Behind every website, plugin, and piece of code is years of knowledge and experience. Unfortunately, users, clients, and other developers don’t have the time to figure everything out. The result: spaghetti code, hours of wasted productivity, and angry clients who may (or may not) have broken something themselves. This talk discusses the benefits of commenting code and documenting functionality, not only for yourself and other developers, but for clients and site owners. Going beyond comments, docblocks, and knowledge bases, we will look at when to document code, code organization best practices, and how to best display your documentation for others to see. Don’t forget to take notes.
