Thanks to everyone who applied!)<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>WordCamp Minneapolis-St. Paul is a locally organized conference that features speaker talent both local to the Twin Cities and around the country. In addition to the<a href=\"https:\/\/plan.wordcamp.org\/speaking-at-a-wordcamp\/\"> typical rules for speaking at a WordCamp<\/a>, there are a few other things\u00a0we are looking for:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Represent a <strong>diverse range of voices<\/strong> from the local and national community, including experienced speakers and new speakers with a passion for their topic.<\/li>\n<li>Emphasis on <strong>connecting with other creative and tech communities<\/strong> outside the WordPress space, or outside the typical presenters we normally hear at WordCamps.<\/li>\n<li>Appeal to an <strong>audience with a broad skillset<\/strong>, especially the thriving development, design, and blogging communities here in\u00a0the Twin Cities<\/li>\n<li>Present a <strong>variety of topics on WordPress<\/strong>, including Web Development, Design, Technology, Writing, SEO\/Marketing, and other fields as they relate to using, building, creating, and improving WordPress sites, themes, plugins, and products<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>What does that mean for your talk submissions?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Topics presented should focus not just on \u201cwhat to do\u201d or \u201chow to do\u201d something, but <\/span><b>why it should be done<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and the purposes behind it. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Special consideration to talks that can promote <\/span><b>cross-disciplinary collaboration, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">applying lessons from one field\/area to another, or the importance of learning\/education<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We want to <strong>encourage diversity<\/strong> (of opinions, of people and backgrounds, of voice, and of skillsets)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Additional thoughts for potential speakers:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Talks do not have to be specifically about WordPress, but must relate to WordPress in some way, whether it&#8217;s using WordPress, building\/developing\/designing for WordPress, enhancing WordPress, or interacting with the WordPress community<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Calling non-WordPress developers!<\/strong>\u00a0WordPress has a lot to learn from the broader development community, whether it&#8217;s PHP, open source, or other languages and disciplines. We&#8217;d love to hear what you&#8217;d have to say!<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Calling designers and visual thinkers!<\/strong>\u00a0WordPress isn&#8217;t just about development. We want to hear about\u00a0visual design, user inferfaces, user experience, animation, and cross-disciplinary applications of design thinking principles in other fields<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Calling strategists, writers, bloggers, and content producers!<\/strong>\u00a0The web wouldn&#8217;t exist without content, and we want to hear from you about content creation and strategy<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Looking for <strong>45 minute talks<\/strong> (including Q&amp;A), and a few lightning talks.
